A slow computer is a symptom with a small number of causes, and guessing at it wastes an afternoon. We look at the actual measurements — drive health, startup load, memory pressure, update state — tell you what is wrong, and fix it or tell you honestly that the machine is finished.
Almost every slow computer comes down to one of these, and they are easy to tell apart once you can see the data.
Restart properly rather than closing the lid, and see whether the first ten minutes after startup are the worst part. Check that the drive has at least fifteen percent free space. Note whether everything is slow or only the web browser — a browser-only problem is usually extensions or a full profile, not the computer.
If the machine freezes completely, crashes to a blue screen or refuses to turn on, stop using it. Continuing to power-cycle a failing drive is the fastest way to lose the files on it.
We will tell you when the honest answer is a new machine. If a computer is eight years old, has a mechanical drive, cannot take more memory and is not supported by current Windows, the money is better spent on a replacement than on an afternoon of tuning.
In that case we help you choose sensibly, set the new computer up, and move your files, printers, email and settings across so nothing is lost.
Our work is troubleshooting, cleanup, software repair, configuration and setup — delivered remotely. We do not perform component-level hardware repair or take machines in for bench work. When hardware has genuinely failed, we identify it, explain the options and handle everything on the software side of the replacement.
Sudden slowdowns are usually a pending or looping Windows update, a nearly full drive, unwanted software installed alongside something else, or a drive starting to fail. The last of those is the one worth checking quickly.
Yes. Diagnosis, cleanup, startup tuning, update repair and software fixes are all done over a secure remote session while you watch.
No. We provide troubleshooting, software repair and setup rather than physical hardware repair. If hardware has failed we will tell you exactly what it is so you can decide between a repair shop and a replacement.
A machine that shows no power or no display needs hands on the hardware, so remote support cannot help. Call us anyway — we will tell you what to check and how to protect your files.
